Mahabodhi Temple , Bodhgaya :- A.        The Temple  :-      In the 6 th  century B.C prince Siddhartha Gautam attained the supreme enlightenment at this holy place and became the Buddha .In commemoration there of emperor Ashoka set up the Vajrasana ( Diamond Thorne) of polished sandstone representing the seat of enlightenment in the 3 rd  century B.C. during the Sunga period (2 nd  century B.C.) .A sandstone railing was erected around it .The present Mahabodhi temple was constructed in the 6 th  century A.D. This is the most Sacred place of Buddhist pilgrimage.   Remains of Ancient Vaishali , Kolhua :-             Stupa & Pillar :- Kolhua, a part and parcel of ancient city of Vaishali marks the spot where a local chief of monkeys had offered a bowl of honey to Lord Buddha. The event is regarded as one of the eight most signigicant events of his life. Baba Harbhajan Singh Shrine, Baba Mandir , Nathu La, Sikkim : Located between Nathula and Jelepla pass at an altitude of 13,123 ft and about 52kms from Gangtok, Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple is popularly known as Baba Mandir. Baba Mandir is a distinguished sightseeing place of Sikkim. The Baba Harbhajan Shrine at Natu La holds special signifance for the men in uniform. Baba Harbhajan was born on 30 th August 1946 at village Sadrana of District Gujranwala (presently in Pakistan ). On 9 th February 1966, he got enrolled into the Punjab Regiment of India Army as a sepoy. Serving with 23 Punjab in East Sikkim in 1968, Babaji expired on 4 th October 1968 while escorting a mule column from Tuku La to Dongchui La. The death occurred when he slipped and fell into a nullah.
